How Do I obtain My Nevada Department of Public Safety (D.P.S.) Criminal History Report?

How Do I obtain My Nevada Department of Public Safety (D.P.S.) Criminal History Report?

Obtaining a copy of your Nevada D.P.S. criminal history is fairly simple and only requires a few items. This is required if you want to seal your Nevada criminal record.
You will need to fill out a one-page D.P.S. request called the DPS-006 form.  This has your contact information and where you want the D.P.S. criminal history report sent once completed.  The request can be found here along with these instruction.
Next, you will need to get finger printed on a standard FBI finger print card FD-258.
Lastly, you will need to get a money order or certified check in the amount of $27.00 made out to the Nevada Department of Public Safety.  This amount does change so make sure the fee has not gone up before mailing off your D.P.S. criminal history request.

You will then take the DPS-006 form, finger print card and the money order, staple them together and mail them off to the NV Department of Public Safety.  The address can be found on the DPS-006 form.

It can take up to 45 days to get your criminal history back from D.P.S., so if you plan on sealing your records you should get going on this as soon as possible.
Keep in mind you may need to get more criminal records, like court dispositions and police SCOPES.  But, obtaining your Nevada D.P.S. criminal history is usually the 1st step to get the record sealing process going.
